This was spirit week at QCS. The students could dress each day on the theme for the day or wear the school uniform. The week ended with a basketball against Union, a school also located in Port-au-Prince, ending an exciting week.
This is the school getting ready for a pep rally during the last period of the day. Great encouragers they were at the rally and during the game after school.
Each Wednesday morning, during the first period, the Middle School and High School meet for chapel. All the other class periods are cut by five minutes, so there are no classes cut :-( These students select the songs we sing and lead the singing. It is spirited singing followed with a story telling message by the HS Bible teacher, Steve Galloway, who is also in charge of the chapel services each week. The elementary school meets for chapel on Thursday mornings.

We walked to a school parents' house near the location of the staff retreat and were caught in a torrential downpour. Yet God's presence was made known to us when He showered also with His light during the storm. In all of our situations, in joy and in sorrow, our God makes His presence known if we but have the eyes to see Him.
Out for stroll on the Saturday afternoon, during our free time. This was the road that went past the conference grounds. To reach the place of the staff retreat, we traveled on roads like these for approximately one hour. We never did get out of second gear :-)
This was the scene out of our lodge room at the conference grounds, seeing the grandeur of our reator God. We were on the mountain tops of approxiamtely 3,000 feet and we could see the harbour of Port-au-Prince below. At times we were totally enveloped in clouds. I didn't know that clouds could move that fast.
Our room was the left one you see on this building. This was taken from the restaurant below where we had all our meals. The two places were connected by a trail with a lot of stone steps - a real calorie burner - which was needed after the excellent meals.
This is most of the staff and their families after our church service on Sunday morning. The guest speaker for the days was pastor Garth from Saskatchewan, a former pastor of Quisqueya Chapel who spent five years serving the God's people here in Haiti.

This is Quisqueya Chapel, the church we attend on Sundays. We get a ride each Sunday from one of the teachers who also teaches at Quisqueya Christian School. The chapel is about 10 minutes from the school. The chapel is not on the school grounds nor is it associated with the school, as many people may presume. The word Quisqueya means cradle of life. This was taken at our first church service in Haiti. It is a church plant of the Hatian CRC. It was a mountain top experience and the location was also on the mountain top.
This is the outside of the church. The members of this church are saving to build a church on a flat piece of land on the mountain. It will cost about $3,000 American. They said they will build when God provides the money.

The students challenged the parents and teachers to a volleyball game. It was an enjoyable, hot game in His Sonshine. Some of the parents were super players with their spikes.
Conversing with Paul Crowe, who was a supply teacher for the first two weeks of school in the high school. Paul had spent about 7 years in the Stouffville, Ontario area before his ministry in Haiti.
Mr. Day, the PE and Bible teacher was in charge of setting up and supervising the games for the day.
The Parent Action Committee members barbecuing more than 200 chicken pieces.

Today the Quisqueya school family came together to enjoy a time of food, fellowship and family fun. The Parent Action Committee was in charge of this event, which was enjoyed by all who came. I was invited to become part of the PAC which meets approximately two times per month. This event was from 11AM - 3 PM.

This morning Pierre, the guard at the gate asked if we would like some flowers since there was a vendor there. Mary did buy some, but before she went she said Watch, and he will say that he will be back next week. True enough. His exact words. The cut flowers do look great on the kitchen table.
