We will be leaving Haiti this Saturday morning and spending time with our children and grandchildren in Ontario. We will also visit our supporting churches. In July, we will celebrate my sister's 60th birthday in Michigan. From there we will travel to Harbor Springs to attend the Christian Schools International convention. We will fly back to Haiti on August 13th, D.V.

Thank you for your prayerful support. God is great and God is good and we thank Him daily for His presence, friends, health, QCS, Haiti, His church, His power at work . . . .

This past Thursday, members of the Parent Action Committee came together at the Brun's house up the mountain at about 3,000 feet. It was a great time of fellowship, food and fun, especially the last 10 kilometres to their house taking 40 minutes. The view was spectacular. Here you can see the terracing on the side of the mountain where the local people plant their crops.

Pasture land? Going for a walk we came upon this open field in the mountains. Wide open spaces with no fences in sight. Only a few cows and some horses with some locals walking across the grasslands to their destination. It alsmost reminded me of the farmers' fields back in Ontario :-)

When one looks for God's presence in His creation, you can certainly find it. Open my eyes Lord that I may see You in my daily activities. The Brun house up the mountain had many flowers and among the beautiful blooms, Mary found the bee busy at work. The Bruns have planted more than 7,000 trees on their property and are busily involved not only in their own businesses, but also in reclaiming the land so that it may be more productive for the local people.

This past Saturday was graduation for the grade 12 class. The program did start only 20 minutes late:-) The students represented the school well with the words spoken. Most of the students will be traveling to the various colleges in the US where they have been accepted. It is our prayer that they will remember their class verse from Jeremiah which states for I know the plans - plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. May their plans always be made in the light of His Word.

This past Friday morning the school was entertained by the pre-K and the K classes performing the Three Piggy Opera. Mary DeKoter was the narrator of the musical, which entertained not only some of the students from the Elementary school, the Middle school and the High school, but also the parents who were able to break away from work to see the production. They did well :-) They sang many songs about the three little piggies and the big bad wolf.

Friday evening we were dined by the school board. Each year at the close of the school the staff and board dine together, fellowship together, and then also bid their farewells. Thank-yous were given to the retiring board members and the new members were welcomed aboard. Teachers leaving after one, two or twenty years of service were recognized for their contributions to the school community. We praised God that our paths did cross. Aren't I photogenic with my eyes closed? It always amazes us what is found begind the walls that surround the properities in Haiti. It is not a walled community, but individual walled properities.

We have had many days of rain this past week. It is not a good idea to be walking during these rains because the torrents of water flowing down the sidewalks will just carry you away. Even on the school property, there is constant erosion by the destructive force of the water rushing and gushing down the slopes. Across from the school, you can see that a retaining wall has collapsed across the sidewalk during the storm this past week. Also this past week a woman was killed as she was hit by a falling high voltage power line that fell during a torrential rain. We stay indoors as much as possible when it rains.

Please dump the grass green side up! Today was the second weekend that we are receiving the 'sod' from the soccer field for our soccer field. The process adds top soil to the very hard surface and the clumps of grass seem to be taking hold in the part that was laid two weeks ago. This is the rainy season and so the project needs to be done now. The sod is free, the truck usuage are donated. The basic costs are for the local workers, the fuel for the trucks and the drivers. Oh, I can't forget, when you have some one work for you, you also have to feed them. The workers received a free lunch today.
