A tribute to the Haitians in the DR since many of them worked the sugar cane plantations.





There were two barges like this on the river in Santo Domingo - they produce electricity for the city. They have electric power all the time in the DR.




This is a memorial to Christopher Columbus - there is a torch burning on the roof of this massive building. It has been said that you can see the light in space beacuse there are no other buildings in this place.



Yes there are trains. Sorry the pic is dark but the trains here are for the sugar cane industry and there were two trains and three tracks side by side. Not your every day event or scenery and so the quick snapshot.
