This past weekend was our staff retreat at a resort about two hours driving from the school. The roads have improved since we traveled these roads last year. It was a wonderful time of rest, relaxation, re-energizing

, fellowshipping with one another and the Lord.
People from the island of Gonave came for the day on Saturday to enjoy this scenic place. There were 50 people aboard this boat and we did see two life jackets.

Here we are anxiously waiting for the conference to start. It was a great meeting room with all the conveniences needed. The resort also had internet and a giant TV so that the Haitians could watch their soccer games. The rooms had air and hot water showers and radio but no TV. It was a relaxing, refocussing time.

The resort was built on the site of a sugar plantation. The museum was closed but there were some artifacts on the grounds depicting the times past. Here one sees the slave labour which was used on the plantation. The people tied together behind the stagecoach of the manager of the plantation.

See the plastic bag of water hanging below this 'fish?' It is believed that this bag of water deters flies coming in this facinity - the dining area. This has not been proven scientifically, but we have seen it in more than one place in Haiti at restaurants. Wonder if it really works, also in Canada eh?
