A Busy Campus

This is the road behind the school. On the weekends it becomes tap-tap alley. Even during the school days, the tap-taps parked there creates a traffic hazard. The dirt mound was dropped off so that the school workers could use the fill to fill the ruts in the road. It is a tempory fix because with the next rain, it will all wash away once again.

The upgrading of the basketball court continues. The basketball league was in place, but their court was partially washed out with the tropical storms. An agreement was reached with the school and the league will hold their games on Fridays and Saturdays on our new court. Art, our PE teacher is helping white wash the wall. He has been a great help in accomplishing all this for the school.

Measure twice and cut once. I didn't know that there are many different measurements for the court size for basketball. Although the courtyard space is limited, one of the posts was in the wrong place by at least a meter. With the aid of an electric jack hammer, a new hole was dug. The previous holes were all hug without power tools. With the additional bleachers, a crowd of 1000 people could come and watch the games. WoW!

And this piece goes where? Pictured here is the Director of the school with a senior student putting an outdoor ping pong table together - made in Germany. We do have two concrete ping pong tables but the bounce is not like those of the real tables:-) Other helpers came along side to piece the table together. After two hours, it was together with only a few spare parts. After the first table, the second should be much easier to piece together.

During the soccer match on Friday after school, the work on the field lighting continues. There is a group of soccer men - friends of QCS - who play each Thursday after work. Since it gets dark soon after they arrive, they decided to put lights in for the field at their expense - a gift to the school. Look closely and you will see a man sitting on top of the pole, working at the installation of the lights. No fear :-)
